We’ll Always Have Paris

Back in mid June (around the time of my birthday) my new cast mates and I started rehearsing for Nous Aurons Toujours Paris, a fun and wicked play written by J Lance Gilmer.

Last night we rendered a staged reading of the play to a full house!

Our audience was wonderful and seemed very pleased.

Fun was had by all!

Here is a photo of Cali (played by me) and Ashley (played by Julia Ackerman.)

More news coming soon!

World’s Largest Gathering of Fashion Film Makers

I am talking about the La Jolla Fashion Film Festival.

It happened this weekend in La Jolla and I attended! Of course I wouldn’t miss being in the audience for the screening of the product of many fashion geniuses. Names such as Karl Lagerfeld, Indrani Pal-Chaudhuri, Marcus K Jones, Stephen Dirkes, and David Hache were included in the list of directors that filmed models such as Daphne Guiness, Tatiana Chechetova, Baptiste Giabiconi, Valeria Efanova, Vanessa Jobb, and Violetta S among many, many others. The films featured vintage, contemporary, and “mythological” fashion and portrayed several styles within the genre: lifestyle catalog, drama, dance, story-telling, transmutation, and romance could all be seeing at the screening.

Once again Fred Sweet and Linda Comer of San Diego Model Management did a brilliant job at making this wonderful event happen.

I’ll talk to you soon!

Celebrating Another Success!

Two nights ago was the premiere of Group C films of the 2012 48 Hour Film Project in San Diego and I was there!

It was a very festive, high-energy, fashion-driven evening of many creative geniuses who gathered together to see theirs and their peers’ final products. The spirit of camaraderie was shared by all as we sat in the theater in anticipation of what had been reserved for us. From film 1 to film 12 there it was; the evidence of concerted effort of all the talented members of each individual team brought together with one common goal in mind: to make dreams come alive on screen with only 48 hours to make them happen.

Once again I was honored to be there and witness that exciting evening. It was a pleasure seeing my “team” again and together celebrate our Friendly Skies success.

Thank you “friendlies” and Duane Trammel of the San Diego 48 Hour Film Project.

I am looking forward to what’s next!

Lots of love and joy,

Flora Sofia.

Yesterday was Fathers Day here in the US and it was also my favorite day of the year!

Por casualidad my birthday this year was the same day the whole country celebrated love and kindredship and boy was that a tough crowd to compete with!

No… not really! I was delighted to have an intimate brunch with my closest friends and watch people celebrate the men that made their life possible.

It was a beautiful sunny day of fun, laughter, love sharing, and shopping. The perfect day to have salud, amor, dinero y tiempo para disfrutarlo. And it wouldn’t have been complete without the international calls from my family in Brazil (oh, and they surprised me with beautiful flowers too!)  But the celebration continues! Today I had the honor to be toasted at rehearsal (or should we call it first reading) by my new directors and fellow cast members with a delicious gluten-free birthday cake! Not to mention the endless love I’ve been receiving from friends from all continents via social media.

I feel very blessed for having the love of my dear family, friends, and peers in this life that is a gift in itself.

Thank you all for making my day so special!

Muito amor,

Flora Sofia

The Friendly Skies

I woke up this morning really stoked about the experience I had yesterday with City Band Productions.

As one of the participating teams of the 48 Hour Film Project we had to comply with the requirements of this year’s event and boy, was it a fun project! All the details about The Friendly Skies, the film we’ve created, will be revealed on June 26th, day of the screening of the 48 Hour Film Project 2012. (I’ll post that information here soon.)

My experience doing this project for the first time was absolutely fantastic! We worked hard the entire day (from 8:00 am to 10:00pm) had a great time making things (and scenes) happen, and at the end of the day we left one of the many locations used pretty exhausted but totally fulfilled! The day ended with a big smile!

My special thanks goes to all the cast and crew of City Band Productions. You are a bunch of awesome people and I look forward to working with you again in the future!

I’ll be back soon!
